Happy middle of the holidays, everyone!
I love this lull midway between Christmas and New Year’s. One celebration done, another to look forward to in just a couple of days. We’re pretty much snowed in at the moment — oh, traffic is still moving and everything is open, but it is distinctly more pleasant to remain indoors on a day like today. I’ve already cleared the driveway once and expect I’ll have to do so again tomorrow…honestly, though, our snow is so late this year that I don’t even mind that much. Me and puppy head out together, I get out the snowblower, and he watches from the porch…looking a little like an abominable snowdog from the blow back by the time we’re done. Then there’s a game of frisbee in the street before we head inside to thaw out and dry off. If the wind dies down tomorrow (the windchill is nasty out there today), we may even head out to the woods so I can make sure my snowshoes still work this year. 🙂
As I write this, I have a table laden with food behind me, all prepped for the annual open house we host for friends, but it’s looking rather like a lost cause today. I think everyone has decided it’s more pleasant indoors sigh. Oh, well. One of my older daughters is on her way home for the afternoon/evening, the other will be home after work, and if I look on the bright side, I’m not going to have to cook for anyone for several days. 😉
On the work side, I’m waiting for my ARCs for Sins of the Son to arrive so that I can hold them and squeeze them and maybe even share them (I’m thinking International blog contest…what do you say?). I’m also working on synopses for books 3 & 4, Sins of the Righteous and Sins of the Forsaken to send to my editor in the New Year…with fingers crossed for a sale. 😉
And speaking of the New Year, does everyone have fabulous plans for bringing in 2012? Ours will be a little quieter than usual, as the friends who normally host a party are unable to do so this year because of family reasons. So it looks like we’ll spend a simple evening at home, but that’s not such a bad way to usher in a whole new year, in my opinion…I don’t know about you, but could do with a little calm in my life for a change and I’m hoping this might set the mood for the whole of 2012. Although then I’d probably get bored and star looking for mischief sigh.
Whatever your New Year’s looks like, I hope you have fun and stay safe. Thank you all so very much for your support and kindness in 2011 and I wish you all the very, very best in 2012!
Hugs,
Linda
