Slightly Frantic Update

Yesterday I finished a marathon session of copy editing on Sins of the Lost. Copy edits aren’t usually that intense, but because the manuscript went straight to that stage before coming back to me, there was some substantial tweaking to be done as well. Mostly because I’d been sooooo late getting the book written that it had gone out to beta readers at the same time that I submitted it to my editor, which meant that I hadn’t had a chance to incorporate any of their feedback.

But let’s not tell my editor that… 😉

Anyway, it’s done. Six days ahead of deadline and two before I leave for FanExpo. Which brings me to the frantic part of this blog title.

I leave for FanExpo tomorrow. That means over the next 24 hours (less if I intend to sleep), I need to do a week’s worth of laundry, get groceries for my house sitter (hubby is coming to Toronto with me — yay!), pick up dog and cat food, get bugs for the lizard, pick my garden clean, let the neighbors know we’ll be away so they don’t call the cops on the house sitter, walk the dog, do the banking, gather all my promo stuff (eyes office and cringes), and pack. Hubby, bless his heart, is going to take on house-cleaning duties.

And you know something? It will so totally be worth it. I cannot wait to get to Toronto. Have you seen what FanExpo has planned?!? The 501st Legion of Stormtroopers, Dr. Who’s 50th anniversary celebration (complete with a march of the Daleks), the DeLorean from Back to the Future, a preview screening of the Once Upon a Time season premiere, steampunk galore…and my list could go on. And on.

There’s even an awesome pro-author panel on Epic World-building & Magic at 6:15 on Friday where yours truly will be rubbing shoulders with the delightful A.M.Dellamonica, Violette Malan, and Lesley Young. We’ll be in room 203, and you should most definitely stop by if you’re there!

I have no idea how I’m going to see everything I want to see in just four days — but I do know that I’ll have fun trying.

Oh yes, and I’ll be hanging out at my own table occasionally, too. 😉 Author’s Alley, outside the food court, table L66. See you there! 🙂

P.S. For those of you who can’t attend, rest assured that I’ll post a recap (complete with pictures) next week. You can also follow me on Twitter and Facebook for as-they-happen convention updates (and more pictures!).
