Of Broken Digits and Looming Deadlines

Twelve days to deadline for Sins of the Lost. I’ve faced tight deadlines before, but this one…this one is definitely going to be the most interesting. I don’t even want to think about where I am and how far I have to go in the story.

Needless to say, I could have done without the broken finger I sustained over the weekend. (Dog, leash, ’nuff said. sigh)

I’d actually hoped it was just a sprain, but the tell-tale black line across the first knuckle on my left index finger indicates otherwise. I’m not even going to have it x-rayed at this point, because honestly? I don’t have the time to sit in emergency. Besides, they might want to put a splint on it, and that is SO not happening. Having been trained as a touch typist in high school (yes, I’m that old!), I need all ten digits for the keyboard. (I mentioned 12 days to deadline, right?)

The important thing is that I can still type and I still intend to meet my deadline.

The manuscript may be missing some of its t’s, g’s, r’s and v’s, but it will get done. 😉

… at your place i prefered to have checked still… if it doesn’t heal properly it could get worse

I’m being careful, Miki, I promise. If I think there’s a problem, I’ll have it looked at. Thank you for your concern! 🙂

If it stops hurting get to the ER!!! The last thing you need is nerve damage. Please be safe.

It’s all good, Heather, I promise. Still LOTS of feeling in it o.O and I called the doctor today just to confirm. She said to buddy-wrap it for four weeks…to my credit, I waited until after I hung up before laughing hysterically. 😉

I was also trained as a touch typist. I can’t type without all 10 fingers…at least not well. I’ve learned to type with my thumbs on my phone, but that’s it. Good luck with the deadlines and hope the finger heals quickly.

I know, right, Andrew? Who’d’ve thought the hunt-and-peck types would have an advantage over us? 😉
