Today marks the 140th day since we began work on readying the house for sale next year, and we have yet to run out of projects. In fact, I think for every project we begin, we add three more to the list. And we have yet to complete any of them.
I came close to finishing my office, but then the contents of the family room got dumped in there so I could paint. Now it looks like this…again. 😛
Actually, most of the rooms in the house kind of look like that right now. We’re definitely getting things done, but it’s slow going. Other considerations have derailed us on multiple occasions. Daylight hours are dramatically reduced with the advent of autumn. And damn, but we’re just not as young and energetic as we used to be…what the heck is up with that?!? 😉
At this point, I am so done with renovations. I want normal back. I want clean back. And I really, really want routine back. The kind of routine that sees me walking Giant Dog at the same hour every day instead of scrambling to fit him in between coats of paint. The kind of routine that allows me to look at hubby across the breakfast table on Saturday and ask, “What would you like to do today?” instead of reminding him of the 32.5 items remaining on the to-do list tacked to the fridge. And definitely the kind of routine that lets me capture and dispose of the herd of dust mammoths currently residing under all the furniture right now.
But as hubby keeps reminding me, it’s all for a good cause, right?
So I guess I’ll go paint the wood stove.
Whee! 😉
