If you read my blog a few days ago, you know I spent Canada Day (July 1st), at a naval battle reenactment on the St. Lawrence River at Kingston, not far from Ottawa. A part of the bicentennial celebrations for the War of 1812 between us and our southern neighbours, the event involved several tall ships, reenactment soldiers, and lots of big, noisy cannons. It was fabulous! ๐
As an aside, did you know that the big cannons such as the ones carried on the Royal George could fire up to three miles?!? Not very accurately, of course, but still…pretty impressive for that day and age.
Anyway, after the battle played out (Canada won, of course ;)), my husband and I headed into Fort Henry, perched atop a hill overlooking Kingston. I took a ton of pictures and thought I’d share with those of you who might be interested. Enjoy!
