Honey, I’m home!

And wow, was that ever an amazing experience. For those of you new to my little corner of the blogosphere, I was away at the World Fantasy Convention in Toronto over the past weekend. It was my first big convention, though people there laughed when I said so and told me that it was nothing compared to things like World Con or FanExpo. O.o

With roughly 900 people in attendance, however, it was plenty big enough and a great stepping stone for me…not to mention serious fun. How much fun was it? I’m glad you asked. 🙂

Activities and panels ran non-stop from 9 in the morning until well past midnight: book launches; just-because parties; an art show and reception; a dealer room; fabulous discussions between writers, publishers, booksellers, and just about anyone who has anything to do with the publishing industry; a hospitality suite; informal invitations for drinks/dinner/breakfast/coffee; a mass book signing event; and probably a dozen other things I either didn’t make it to or just didn’t know about.

For a newcomer, it was mind-boggling. And stupendous. And exhausting.

And I’d do it over again in a heartbeat.

Once I recover, that is. And catch up on my sleep.  😉

Next year is in Brighton, UK…out of my budget unless I win the lottery, I’m afraid (or sell film rights!). Definitely going in 2014, however…Washington, D.C. 🙂
