Friday Adventures

Some days really ought to come with a reset button…

I started out on the right foot. Up at 5:30, heading into the woods for a hike with the dog at 6:00. So far, so good. Of course, Charlie did his usual galumphing through every mud hole he could find during the hour we were out, so he wound up looking like this:

Not that much of a problem, really…I just put him into the back yard to dry off when we got home. Of course, I hadn’t quite counted on him doing this:

It turns out Charlie can throw dirt a distance of 10 feet and a height of 4 feet — as evidenced by the way said dirt covered my porch and stairs. *sigh*

Just after I finished cleaning up the mess (and consigning dog to his kennel for the morning) we had a 5.1 magnitude earthquake with an epicentre just a short distance from here. Who needs coffee to wake you up when you can shovel dirt for 20 minutes and then have your whole house vibrate?!?

Oh, yes, and let’s not forget the furnace repairmen who tramped in and out of the basement for more than two hours trying to rectify a wiring issue caused by one of their colleagues during the regular service last fall. Or the transformer they blew in the heat exchanger (oops). Or the air conditioning they had turned down to 14C/57F while they worked to rewire the entire system.

I finally opened the windows because it was warmer outside than it was in.

You can imagine how much work I haven’t accomplished today.

Still, I refuse to let any of what’s happened so far spoil a day like this:

Especially when it gives me such a good excuse to call it quits and indulge in a little of this 🙂 :

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Sometimes you’ve got to…sorry about your day but reading is never a bad thing at the end of it!
