Another Day on the Road to Self-Publishing

Well, I’m getting there, folks. I’ve just finished up the final edits on Gwynneth Ever After, and I have submitted the manuscript for digital formatting! Woot!

Also checked off the to-do list this week:

  1. I’ve applied for an ISBN number (free to Canadians through CISS, the Canadian ISBN Service System)
  2. I’ve created an upload account at Apple iBooks (I’d already created accounts for Kindle, Kobo, and Nook)
  3. I’ve joined the IBPA (Independent Book Publishers Association) — this is in preparation for making Gwynneth Ever After available to reviewers on Netgalley*** as well as for some great support and information.

As soon as I have the digital files back from formatting, I’ll be sending copies out to three fabulous authors who have agreed to give me review quotes. Once those are in hand, it’s back to the formatting service to have them placed in the text — and to the cover artist to have one placed on the cover as well.

Release is set for mid-June. I’m trying to figure out whether or not I can specify an actual release date on the various platforms when I do the uploads, so I’ll have to get back to you on that. (And if you happen to know the answer to this, please tell me!)

So there you have it, another day on the road to self-publishing. Next stop, publication. 🙂

***As a self-publishing author, you can put your book up on Netgalley yourself, but going through the IBPA program means they look after all the details for you…and with garden season and edits on Sins of the Lost coming up, I’m all for simplifying my life as much as possible. 😉
