It seems it was only yesterday that I celebrated the half-century mark (yes, I’m that old!), and here I am marking yet another year…where does the time go?!? If it’s true that we’re only as old as we think we are, I should only be about 30 still, because that’s when time began spinning seriously out of control. That was also the time I started having kids…coincidence? I think not. But I digress.
Getting back to the birthday issue, I’m way past the point of denial and very much in favor of celebrating each and every year — because if you think about the alternative…yeah, not so good. π The question, then, is how to celebrate. Here’s what I’ve come up with for my day:
- It’s a glorious day here — sunshiny and warm and just perfect — so I’m taking a long walk in the woods with my puppy.
-
I’m picking up one of my daughters this afternoon and heading for a bookstore to buy myself a book. I’m curious about steampunk , so I may look for something in that genre — any suggestions?
-
I’m ordering in dinner. My kids are all coming home for a birthday celebration tonight and I was going to cook, but really — cook my own birthday dinner? Not. Hubby is picking up Thai and some birthday cupcakes on his way home from work tonight. π

I’m going to have a birthday giveaway!!! In fact, because everyone loves presents, I’m going to have TWO giveaways. I have in my possession two ceramic Sins of the Son coffee mugs, two Angels Gather Here pens, and two of my infamous keepsake bookmarks (signed, of course!). I’ll make up two gift packages containing one of each, and I’ll even make it international.
Now because everyone loves presents — Β including me! — Β here’s what you can do to win:
a. The very best gift an author can receive is feedback, so if you’ve read either Sins of the Angels or Sins of the Son andΒ you haven’t already done so, I would love it if you would take the time to rate one (or both!) on Amazon, Goodreads, Barnes & Noble, or Chapters/Indigo.
b. OR simply ‘like’ one or both books on Amazon.
c. OR if you haven’t yet read the books, you canΒ tweet something about one/both to your followers and include a link to my website — or if you’re on Facebook, post there instead. Or just email this blog post to someone.
d. AND tell me in a comment below which of the above you’ve done. I’m not going to check up on you (remember, I’ll be out walking the dog and browsing the bookstore!), so this is purely based on the honor system and my heartfelt gratitude for your support. The giveaway will run until midnight EST on Friday, May 18th, when I’ll draw two random winners. Be sure to include your email address in your comment so I can notify you if you’ve won!
I think this is a fabulous way to celebrate, don’t you? π
