A Book of Firsts

So this is happening later this week…

The release of Abigail Always, the newest book in the Ever After series, takes place on Friday, March 29.

And I am so beyond happy.

I’ll be honest, though. This was a tough story to write (and took four tries to get the ending right)–for a lot of reasons.

First, it deals with some pretty challenging topics that I’ve never tackled before, including grief, the loss of a child, and an emotionally abusive past relationship. BUT… it deals with the antithesis of those, too. Rediscovering the joy in life. Finding hope. Learning to love again. The hard part was finding the balance between those. I hope I’ve done it well.

The book marks a number of other firsts for me, too. It’s the first interracial relationship that I’ve written–despite having interracial couples in my close circle for my entire life (you can read about my aha moment here). It’s the first time I’ve brought a disability into a book, too (the same aha moment applies). I hope I’ve done those well, too.

It’s also the first time I’ve introduced a family pet. For the record, I have no doubt that I’ve done that well. 😉

A book of firsts, indeed… and I hope you’ll enjoy. 🙂

You can read the first two chapters here.

Will you ever write a follow up to this story? It was really good and it has so much potential for a stand alone series. Greetings from Italy.

I’m so sorry I missed seeing this comment at the time, Barb! I don’t have any immediate plans for a follow-up story, but never say never… 😉

Hope you’re staying well and safe!
